Yes... it has some preset angles to set it up in tripod mode as well. Nice Cover for the money. There is a loop on the back for an Apple pencil that will be folded up inside when fully opened 360 degrees, but usually I am using the pencil so it has no bearing on things for me. But yes, it does fold open a full 360 degrees. The Tablet is also able to be rotated 360 degrees on the circle axis on the cover as well, so you can set it up in tripod mode both portrait and Landscape positions. I also Recommend it due to it's appearance. It looks very professional while traveling (or even around the house it looks high end actually) copy and paste the following (or link if it links) to see the official look of it on the Targus Web Site. It shows very well how the cover works in all modes and positions. (except the position you asked about) http://www.targus.com/us/versavu-classic-case-for-12-9-inch-ipad-pro-2017-thz651gl
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it does, so you can set it flat in your lap or on a table.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does tuck behind the screen to allow full viewing of the screen, but it bulges outward from the fold hinge slightly. You have to tuck the magnetic "flap" first so that it doesn't hang over the front of the screen.
