“I have a 50" not smart TV and want to use the component audio out plugs. What setting should the TV be on. I can't use the optical because the receiver wont accept this.”

For better assistance with your not smart TV, you would want to contact the manufacturer of that TV. This TV, where this question is posted, is an Android smart TV that is compatible with most soundbars and can be connected via HDMI ARC, Optical, Bluetooth, or the 3.5mm headphone jack.
