The answer you got from TCL is correct. I measured mine, and it's a tiny bit less than 44 inches wide. In doing research for wall mounts, I saw some that let you shift the tv from side to side by 1-2 inches Although they always recommend mounting to studs, there are some drywall anchors that are very strong. I use a type with brand name Togglers. They are like a toggle bolt that stays in the wall. Come in 1/4 - 20 bolt size. Check Home Depot. Can carry a lot of weight, and this tv isn't really very heavy. I would not use the basic plastic anchors that you push in. they can pull out easy if any force that pulls out from the wall is applied
