I'll try to answer both of your questions. As far as the overall muted color goes it's hard to understand without knowing what adjustments you have made to the television while trying to correct this issue. As an owner of a brand new 655 I can tell you that I did a lot of research on YouTube. The settings and the TV will vary depending on the input. Also depending on whether you're using Dolby vision or HDR from the source. There are some excellent settings suggestions on YouTube. I am extremely happy with the picture quality on my set after making some slight adjustments. I didn't go into any of the advanced settings as I didn't find it necessary. I'm primarily using a single input getting information from a receiver so all those settings are fine. All of the inputs will let you reset to factory I suggest you try that first and then make minor adjustments if necessary. If it really is a bad picture then you may have an issue with the TV that needs to be resolved with an exchange. As far as the HBO Max application I have it on my television I've had none of the issues that you seem to be having I would simply uninstall and reinstall that app and see if that fixes the problem. There's always the option to go to a full factory reset on the TV if you're not sure exactly the best way to handle any of the issues that you're having. Remember if you do a reset you will have to reinstall all of your apps and sign into those apps again. This is the third TCL I've had and have been very happy with all of them. I make it a point to do a reset approximately once a year to keep things fresh. I hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.*HDR is not High Definition Resolution. it is High Dynamic Range. It is designed to enhance the contrast and color accuracy by allowing a greater range between the brightest and darkest parts of the image.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Try the asterisk button on the remote when viewing a movie, etc and this opens a menu on the left side of the screen with options for picture settings, etc. Open picture settings and then you have options to adjust TV brightness, picture mode and other features that change the experience. In reference to your HBO Max question and SDR, that is two separate questions. First, movies are often in widescreen format which gives the black bars above and below the video. SDR is standard definition resolution unless the video was produced in high definition resolution (HDR) so SDR will be default and has nothing to do with the black bars. Not all programming or movies are in HDR. Again you can adjust the brightness and picture mode of what you are viewing. The TV picture and viewing experience is great but I do adjust at times depending on what I’m viewing. Good luck!
