08/12/2021 Hello Mark. Think of this server, the Terra, as a storage bin for your movies, and not a player. The Strato C is the player that connects to the Terra and then to your TV or projector. Then the Strato S is a COMBINATION server and player, though I understand that it can play movies from the Terra (the server in question) as well. The mistake I made was thinking that the 12 TB Strato S would hold plenty of movies, but now I'm almost out of space. I seemingly should have chosen the 24 TB Terra server and a Strato C. But please note!! The Strato C seems to be getting more and more difficult to find. That leads me to believe that Kaleidescape is simplifying to just a Strato S which can connect to and play movies from its own hard drive AND movies from the Terra. In September, 2021 there is an event in Indianapolis (if Covid doesn't wipe it out) called Cedia. It has been suggested that Kaleidescape, the makers of all this equipment, may reveal some things of interest, which may include an 18 TB Strato S, which would have been perfect for me. So you may want to wait till Cedia happens in September before you make a purchase. Hope that helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.
