Yes, I would say so. I liked the writing and stories of the old games when my friends talked about them, but never could get into the gameplay. Breath of the Wild changed that. It's a very self-contained game, so you don't have to be a veteran to enjoy it.

Yes. Zelda games don't have a exact order to play them. Each game is a self contained story, even though the characters are called Zelda, Link and Ganon, in each game they are completely different people.

After playing this, try playing Zelda Ocarina of Time for 3ds if you wanna discover more about the world of Zelda.

Anyway, play Breath of The Wild. It's a gem!

Yes the story's aren't directly connected only minor details such as the hero link stays the same and the princess Zelda the only major changes between games is the environments and the enemies, since all stories in the franchise add their own flair I still suggest looking at them But trust me when I tell you, YOU WONT REGRET BUYING THIS I have never heard any complaints about purchasing the game.

Absolutely. For fans of the series, there are a bunch of subtle call backs to previous games hidden throughout - mostly in the scenery. (The place you famously get your horse from in Ocarina of Time can be found if you have a sharp eye, but it’s out of the way and now in ruins). But nothing depends on prior knowledge of the games. It is in fact a reinvention of the series, so it’s a good place to start

Best scenario- play the Original "Legend of Zelda" first. It-s on NES or Classic NES. Then "LOZ: A Link to the Past" (my personal favorite) on SNES/Classic SNES. Then "Ocarina of Time" N64, which is supposed to be in stores soon (Classic version.) Many others, but to get the Real Zelda start from the beginning. "Breath" will be easier to understand & appreciate after playing the 1st 3 of the series. I omitted Zelda 2 "Adventure of Link" because it's poorly designed. Have fun. I started when LOZ came out in 1986 @ 32 yrs of age & am still loving it!

Go ahead and play it. The timeline in BoTW is 10000 years in the future compared to others games in the franchise. They explained this fact in game. If you are interested in the timelines from the past, YouTube has a great compilation of videos about that.

Yes, it is a great detailed story that will get you caught up with the franchise in a matter of seconds but there is nothing like playing ther games starting with twilight princess and working your way through ocarina of time and a link between worlds. It’s weeks of great fun. Make sure you have a sufficient amount of time though because it will suck you in and never let you go!

Yes! This game doesn't play like your typical Zelda game in that it's much more adventurous and it's deviated away from some of the Zelda franchise traditions. The result, in my opinion, is an open-ended game that anyone can pick up and play and have a great time. The only thing you may miss out on is some of the references to the older games and the general Zelda timeline, but that can be remedied by doing research on Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, etc. As long as you're ready to solve puzzles and explore, you're good to go!
