• Yes it will... keep in mind it should be a SATA hard drive. It is not compatible with IDE hard drives. I actually use it for laptop and desktop hard drives interchangeably with no problems.

• Yes, this works with both 2.5" drives commonly found in laptops and 3.5" full size drives.

• Yes. that's why I got it to recycle all the hdd's from past laptops works great

• Yep, most definitely. If you have a USB port on your laptop you can plug the device directly into your laptop. Or you can take a standard 2.5" bare bones hard drive (even an SSD), plug it right into the port and do what you need to to it.
