- Answer This is a docking station. It comes with a USB cable to connect it to a PC. It does not include a SATA cable. You will not need a SATA cable to use a drive since the drive will snap straight down into the dock provided the drive is standard SATA. I hope this helps.

- Answer So long as the file system is intact and the drive is not physically damaged, you should be able to pull data from the drive. If the drive is damaged, or the tables are corrupt, please leave data recovery to an expert.

- Answer Mine does not work with IDE drive. The connectors on the drive don't match - mine has SATA connectors only. I have a bunch of IDE drives collecting dust - I have seen some hard drive adapters for IDE to SATA for sell on Amazon but never purchased one.

QuestionIs this device backwards compatible with USB 2.0?

- Answer Yes, I have plugged it into the 2.0 and a 3.0 USB port it worked equally as well on both the 2.0 is just not as fast is about the only difference if I wasn't out to get optimum speed I would not have noticed it was on the 2.0 as it functions just the same as it does on the 3.0 port.

- Answer Any relatively new hard drive will be SATA. This format has been around for some time now. However, to be sure, note the connections: SATA has two small cables that connect it to a computer. The older style had one long connector and a smaller power connector.

- Answer My windows 10 detects these as SATA if SATA and as a hard drive and gives it a drive letter. Would you be able to install games? Sure, but i doubt it is going to run as quickly as internally installed drive. So, if you are looking for space to install and run games then yes, but too much HDD transferring back and forth might not give you the performance you're looking for. Then again, are you looking for just booting the game seems like it'd work well. Make sure you've got USB 3.0 so you get the fastest transfer rates.

QuestionI am only averaging data transfer speeds of 1 mbps. Obviously it is intended to transfer much faster. USB 3.0 connection to my Windows 10 PC. The hard drive in the enclosure is a Western Digital WD20ears-00mvwb0 capable of 3.0 GPS. Any suggestions?

- Answer A few possible causes of your issue: 1. You are not using a USB 3.0 cable with the dock, so it is operating in USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 mode. 2. The proper drivers for your USB controller are not installed and it is not operating in Super Speed USB 3.0 mode and running in USB 2.0 High Speed (480 Mbps = 60 MB/sec) or USB 1.1 Full Speed (12 Mbps = 1.5 MB/sec) mode. 3. Your drive is encountering errors and slowing down due to retries and block reallocations. Drives errors often start fairly unnoticed - perhaps a short "hang" on access, or some "ticking" noises made by the drive. Eventually they become more severe causing extreme slowdowns or complete failure. Running a manufacturer test like WDDiag or using a drive tester (many duplicators have this functionality) will give you more information. Regardless, YOU SHOULD BACK UP YOUR IMPORTANT DATA *NOW* before the drive gets any worse. 4. Your dock is broken/defective. Try the other slot and another drive if possible.

- Answer Yes, you can do a 1-1 block level or partition level clone with this. It's all dependant on your software though. Clonezilla or ghost should handle that.

- Answer It will not. It only takes SATA drives. I would google the type of hard drive you have and see if there are similar “standalone” devices like I did for IDE drives

- Answer Not directly. That drive is IDE whereas this is for SATA drives. You'd be better off getting a device specially designed to connect to an IDE drive or to convert IDE to SATA.
