I use mine connected to the 12v adapter that came with it. Using that cable, the unit powers on with the car and powers off when the car is off. So I'm not using the parking mode feature. That requires a hardwired connection. There is no battery in the dash cam itself.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This device does not have any internal re-chargable battery. It needs to be "plugged in" all the time. Plus when you start your car, 12V outlet in your car provides power for camera and when camera powers on, it automaticly starts to record.

To withstand extreme temperatures, our dash cams use a supercapacitor instead that will need to be either plugged in to a 12V socket with the cable provided or hardwired to your fusebox with our Thinkware Hardwiring Cable. We recommend the latter to also use Parking Surveillance Mode. We hope this helps! Please let us know if you have other questions.
