Hi Rob, The front camera itself has a regular Amp of roughly 0.42A. If you are running a dual channel system, the regular Amp required is 0.58A. Please note that the consumption for 1CH is 2.5W, the consumption for 2CH is 3.5W and the volt current is on average 6-7V. Hope this answered your question! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Dual channel should be ~ .3A while recording and single channel will draw ~.1A while fully recording and parking mode will be even less. I have 4 of these cameras and run them on the most aggressive parking mode and have yet to wake up to a dead battery or have any adverse effects on the battery. Considering the cut-off voltage (user selectable) is rather close to the resting voltage of the battery there is little to worry about your batteries weakening from such little draw.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't think that wouldn't be any more wear on a battery. But myself I had an experienced audio store wire my HD camera with an inline fuse and it shuts off when I turn the switch off and it comes back on when I turn the switch on. I have had no problems at all works great not sure but Im betting the guys in the audio Dep at Best Buy could install it not sure. But it is easy to Install and like I said works great . Gary D
