Hi there, To hardwire your Thinkware dash cam, the Thinkware hardwiring cable (TWA-SH) must be used. With the proper cable, splicing and cutting will not be necessary. Please contact your local Best Buy directly to see if they are able to provide hardwiring installation services for you. Thinkware Customer Support
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I take all my stuff to the audio place I have been dealing with for 20 years. I have a permanently installed laser/radar detector. Usually these things get connected to the juice for the dome lights (near the rear view mirror). I and sure some kind of splicing occurs but if you get it professionally done it shouldn't be an issue.

So I decided to buy the optional hard wire kit( Best Buy sell it for $29) for for this model and I'm happy I did. Installed mine and even added a rear view camera. Parking mode is now working.. I bought an extra base and put it in my other car, so every time i drive the other car I can remove the system and use the original cable that comes with it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The instructions for the hardwire kit indicate it should be wired to the fuse box. If you are handy you should be able to do this yourself. I am certain Best Buy's techs can do this for you.
