There is no battery. The camera plugs into the car lighter or can be hardwired to the fusebox. If it is hardwired there is a feature that senses when the car battery is discharging more than it should and the dash cam shuts off. I would get a field/game camera, which uses batteries and attach it to a tree or something.

The dash cam requires power from the vehicle, either from a 12V socket or directly from the fuse box using the Thinkware Hardwiring Cable.
