Customers highly value the H50 HD Dash Camera's video quality and ease of use, frequently praising its simple setup and installation. Many appreciate the camera's compact size and find the price reasonable for its performance. While some users noted that the night vision could be improved and the software interface requires some getting used to, the positive feedback on other features outweighs these concerns.

Great little camera. I used it flush up against the rear glass in my Caddy EXT. A guy backed into me in a parking lot and tried to take off without leaving his info. The camera started recording day default due to the bump and cops tracked him down by his plates that were were captured on camera. It captured everything except the initial bump!

Good budget dash cam

This is a great budget dash cam for the price. I use this as a rear camera in my wife's SUV in the rear window. The quality is decent, however, the quality as others mentioned, during the night isn't great. However, this being used in the rear, it gets the job done as far as documenting (Video) what happens behind me, should I need to present as evidence. Unlike my other dash cams (BlackVue 3500 & Spytec G1W-C), I am unable to take out the microSD card and mount it inside a tablet/phone to view/show footage unless I have the proprietary PC viewer software, which seems to be Windows-based and the reason I took 1 star off. Luckily, the other dash cams I have, I can take out the SD cards and can immediately view footage or show footage to law enforcement at the scene of the accident, versus waiting to get home to pull the file(s).
Overall, it's a good budget camera, but if you're able to upgrade, to at least the Thinkware F50, versus the H50 here, I would recommend doing so.

Definitely a good buy. Picture/ sound quality are very good. Set up onto your vehicle is very easy, routing the wire is the hard part but wont kill ya. Loading files onto your computer for the first time is somewhat challenging as the instructions are in a way different, but after 10 minutes of familiarizing yourself with it, it all becomes very obvious. Will be back soon to purchase the second H50 for my vehicle. my wife loves the idea of having it in her car, due to a recent accident where the other person declined responsibility after they failed to stop for my wifes right of way. 100% satisfied with this product and definitely got more than WE expected.....PEACE OF MIND.

I have two Thinkware H50 dashcams. Easy to install in car. I like the adhesive mount on the windshield instead of the suction cup method. Camera is very tiny which makes it very hard to see outside the car. Software I needed to get help from Thinkware tech support. They helped me through the process with no problem. I HATE the voice notices this thing makes. "Please have a safe drive today" Please set the time and date before use" "Continuous recording will start now" Every time the car is started, I hear that. No way to shut it off. Camera quality during the daytime is very good. During the night the quality is fair to terrible depending upon where you are at. It needs light to perform well. Great camera for the price. Would I pay full retail, No way. Thinkware has a good product. I really like how small this thing is.

I got this camera on sale for $49. It seemed like a good deal. I like the adhesive mounting. Easy setup but if u need a camera for night driving dont buy it.
The quality of the video recorded in night time is horrible. You can't see anything.
So dont buy it if u need a camera that works nighttime. Unfortunately i need to return this.

This camera works well and provides good quality video (it is 720 vs 1080 so you don't get high resolution but video is still quite clear). I did a fair amount of research and the manufacturer has a really good reputation. I initially thought the lack of a video monitor would be an issue but it has not been a problem (the lack of a monitor actually makes it quite small so it stays rather hidden behind your mirror). It stores the video on a micro sd card and requires a Windows computer to view the video (I use a Windows 10 tablet with mine). My only complaint is the stupid "Have a safe drive message" it says each time it starts up - it would be nice if they provided an option to turn that off.

This camera, as I have stated is good for beginners. Imagine driving down the street and capturing on camera, images of the entire trip. That's what you get with this camera. The pictures in daylight are crisp and clear but after dusk not so much. Plus I still don't know how to make the audio work. I give it 3 stars but, depending on what you need it for, you might rate it lower.

H50 HD camera is a low price option. Very good image quality when light is present. Poor quality at night. Propietary format and a 1 minute file scheme is in use.

I saw a sale on the Bestbuy site and purchased 2 of them. Installation was easy, but the price of accessories is very high. Camera gives a decent picture during the day (a little grainy, but decent), however night time quality is horrible. Especially on the unlit road.
Besides I'm not a fan of the format free approach - you cannot delete videos and cannot keep any extra info on the micro SD card.
Out of the pox it is too sensitive. Creates an event even when I drive off of my driveway. Also has only 3 plans to distribute the storage, and none of them is good.
Also, one of the dashcams broke 6 months into the service, Just stopped powering up. But everything breaks nowadays, so I'm not going to hold it against the manufacturer.
So buy it only if you are driving during the day on the smooth roads :)

Brand response from Thinkware Product Expert

Hi there,
Thank you for sharing your experience with the H50 dash cam. We hope to provide you with some clarity in regards to some of the points that were mentioned:
(1) This particular model is 720p and utilizes a CMOS image sensor that seeks to provide the most optimal video quality in the given environment. We have since released updated models that provide 1080p video quality and improved night recording.
(2) Format free technology reduces the need for manual formatting. However, the user may delete video files by formatting the card directly on the computer. You may also save files onto your computer by using our PC Viewer.
(3) In regards to sensitivity levels and storage options, we have forwarded this inquiry to our development team for consideration as the current options may be limiting.
(4) Thinkware dash cams are covered under a one-year warranty plan so please contact our CS department for a possible warranty exchange.
We would be more than happy to assist you further with your H50. Please feel free to contact us directly by phone (1-844-865-9273) or email ([email protected]).
Kind regards,
Thinkware Customer Support

I looked around for a value dash cam and the H50 seemed like a perfect fit. It works as advertised - don't expect all the bells and whistles of other high end dash cams but for the price, it works adequately.

I bought this dashcam for my wife who travels everyday. The dashcam can help us to save every moment that we need to review when something happens on the streets. It is also a useful evidence if we have an accident unluckily.

This dash cam was easy to setup and install. The picture quality is phenomenal. Only issue (and I was my error) to review videos make certain you set the time up front. I missed that part. Date is now setup correctly. Lesson learned. Would highly recommend.

...it just doesn’t work at night. Its compact design makes it nearly unnoticable. It’s hidden behind the mirror and hooked up to the car’s fuses (cable is sold seperately). Video quality isn’t the best overall but gyroscope sensitivity is responsive and it’s possible to set it up the way you want. Software is lame and it takes forever to convert to .avi format, it’s really annoying...

In these days of ambulance chasing and the willingness to go legal, denying fault in accidental driving is becoming too common. This product helps back up your case and reminds the driver to be more aware. And it was simple to install, don't travel without it!

Cam is fine to verify the actin that goes on around your vehicle and any incidents that may happen in front of your vehicle I have already been witness to one accident and the cam was very useful in determining who is at fault

The software interface for it can be difficult to navigate.
Otherwise, it already served it’s purpose when it helped identify someone who hit my bumper.
Their insurance took care of the rest.
