• Hi Joe, With Format Free Technology, H50 footage are recorded in a special proprietary format. Users can save H50 footage on their computer in an .avi format using the H50 Viewer. However, once a copy of the file is saved on your computer, you can convert the format from .avi to any format you want including DVD. Please note that the H50 compatible with Windows computers only and conversion of the video to anything other than .avi will require additional software. Thinkware Customer Support

• It's free format. There is a program which allows you to convert a footage into an .avi file, and then you can make a DVD if you want. Which doesn't make much sense because all the files are a minute long.
