“Question about the stick? If you pull back do you climb? I had to reverse this function on the XBOX controller in order for it to be correct. Evidently this is a hold over from Star Wars shooting where you push dwon to raise the gun barrel.”

It depends on the game but every flying game should have it set so that pushing forward makes the nose go down and pulling backwards makes the nose go up as default or as an option in the settings. The flight stick is only a controller and the buttons and actions can be modified in game.
