“Is the steam mode optional on this unit? If you don't enable steam, will it perform similar to the standard S5? I have Tineco cleaning solution from another product but want to know if it's safe to use in this unit with or without steam.”

Dear Matt, the steam mode is optional. There are two modes in S5 Steam, one is AUTO mode and the other is STEAMING mode. In Auto mode, the iLoop™ sensor automatically detects how dirty the floor is and applies the appropriate amount of detergent and suction power. In Steaming mode, the nozzle starts to spray steam and it suits for deep cleaning. Please note that you don't need to use any solution with S5 Steam. You can do deep cleaning in a STEAMING mode.
