A:Answer You are correct that you would need one Bolt and 3 minis. They all need to be connected via Ethernet to your network router or switch. (they don't wire directly to one another) No WiFi for the minis, and TiVo says the main box shouldn't be on WiFi either when trying to have mini's in the mix. The other option is through your coax cable using a MOCA network. The ethernet works for me so I didn't do much work researching the MOCA network.
Be aware, TiVo isn't kidding when they say it may take 24 hours before your minis can communicate with your main TiVo box. When I first activated my mini it wouldn't see my TiVo Bolt, but when I tried again at the 24 hour mark, boom, no issues.
