This device only records OTA shows, it does not record streaming shows. There is a guide fee, it is $6.95 per month, $69.95 per year or $249.95 for lifetime. If you get the lifetime, it stays with the DVR and makes your DVR more valuable if you ever decide to sell it. I did the lifetime about 2 years ago on my Bolt and have no regrets.
