• No, you cannot record tv shows on ANY Tivo DVR without paying a monthly fee. Considering that I was paying $130 a month for cable just to rent a DVR, the yearly TOTAL COST of $180 is really cheap. Cost monthly for the OTA Roamio is $14.99, fyi.
