The chromebook only uses web based programs. If you write the programs on games on notepad, as I do with web pages,or on html editor then you need either a windows based or possibly a Mac based computer.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Macbook Pro (maybe Air...depends on if he is compiling code). Windows is not very good anymore in my opinion, and frankly not much cheaper than a Mac. Unless you go big bulky. There are powerful, cheaper Windows if you don't mind less portability.

Some things I have tried to download aren't supported by the Chrome OS and the Chrome web store has very bad apps and replacement launchers for things that aren't supported. Writing programs are already on the Chromebook. The google drive programs are good too.
