Thanks for your question. This Chromebook will not run Microsoft Excel because it runs on the Chrome operating system. However, you can use Google Sheets for free. Google Sheets allows you to open and edit Microsoft Excel files and convert Excel files to Google Sheets and vice versa. Check the system requirements for the basic CAD programs you plan on using to see if they are compatible with Chrome OS. If you have a difficult time finding a CAD program for Chromebooks you may want to consider looking at Toshiba laptops that run Windows as there are more options for CAD programs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It depends what CAD program you're talking about. It can run Microsoft Excel online, but not the desktop app and there might be a CAD chrome extension, but I doubt this is what you're looking for if you need to do CAD stuff.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Excel is not a web based program so the answer is No. If you can change your program to a Google Docs spreadsheet program, then it's a great computer, but if it has to be excel, then this is not the one to get.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I use office 365 on my Chromebook without any problems
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromebooks do not allow you to install additional programs. You can use google docs for excell. If there are cad layout programs that are web-based, then you could add those...but not independent programs. Hope that helps!
