A:Answer No, not to set it up, however, it took me forever because the start up guide is useless. I did send an email complaining and they gave a 90 page manual for it. the hdmi cable is for hooking up things to the TV, such as a DVD player, or an A/V amp. It will also take the three colored wires used in older players.
