• I do not know if it will work with an Xbox One X. However, I can confirm that it does not have a separate AC power cord. It uses only a USB cable.

• I have not used this with an xbox however it DOES NOT have a separate AC power cord nor does it need any additional software to make it work. It is as you said, simple plug and play.
