• YES!! I have one in mine and it is as fast as the newer retina models now...a great buy.

• The drive is compatible. However, you say you are using 500GB and the drive you are looking at here is only 256GB so if you are already using 500GB, you need to look for a larger drive.

• This will fit your MBP. But as far as storage goes, only you will know if you can deal with half the storage. As far as how much space you have after the OS install, I have around 200 GB available.

• Yes it will work with your MacBook Pro but it might be a bit loose inside the laptop as its a 7mm design, ultra thin, and I'm assuming this is not the same as the standard HDD or SSD size. I'm speaking from my recent experience.
