“Can windows 8 be converted to 32 bit operation ? The software games that I have are all 32 bit format , & unless some one has come up with a compatibility program in the last 3 yrs , they won't run on a 64 bit system .”

Most 32-bit software will run fine on a 64-bit Windows system, but there can occasionally be some exceptions. If you haven't already tried it on a 64-bit Windows 8 system, I wouldn't automatically assume your software won't work, especially if the software was released in the past 5 years or so.
