Yes. The HDD is reachable by taking off the bottom plate. There are four screws located under the rear feet. Each foot has two screws. The front feet do not have any screws located under them. Use a credit card to break the shell apart and do it slowly. There is a cable for the side ports that is attached to the lower plate and if you remove it to quickly you will rip it apart.

Please try again later.Yes you can, this is copied and pasted right off the Toshiba forums: "I have a p55w and just put in an ssd. pretty simple process. all the screws that are visable come out first, then there are two screws under each foot in the rear of the laptop, be careful while removing the feet they cracked on me but stuck back on ok there are no screws under the feet in the front. then i used a credit card to seperate the bottem pannel its pretty lightly clipped in. be careful at this point there is a ribbon cable that attaches to this pannel to run the power and volume buttons. after that you can see the hard drive, battery, ram, and wireless cards are all pretty easily replaced."
