As the older version uses an Intel AC 7260 card, this newer iteration has an Intel AC 7265 card. I personally have no WiFi problems with it. As I don't have a 802.11ac router I connect via the 2.4GHz band and get my normal expected speed through several areas in my house. Check out this picture:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it has not been fixed. But the WiFi dose work, its just weak. Several months ago I bought a ASUS with a i7 processor at Best Buy, it had a similar problem, so I returned it. It might not be the computers fault, I think it is the Intel WiFi card. I tested the ASUS ( and also this new Toshiba) against my other 3 computers. 1) My 3 year old desktop , that I built. 2) A 2.5 year old HP laptop 3) The 1st generation Surface Pro. All of them are connected wirelessly, and located on my desk, about 10 feet away form the wireless router. I used the Xfinity/Comcast speed test. I preformed the test several times on each. My original 3 computers averaged out at about 45 Mbps. The Asus and this new Toshiba are getting about half that.... I don't know why, but I think that maybe the card is not powerful so as to save power and make the battery last longer - just a guess. Personally I think this sucks. When I'm at a hotel for work and need to connect to the internet - I want a good strong signal. Over all - the pluses out weigh the negatives. I am going to keep this Laptop and not return it as I did with the Asus. As a side note - I did add a new Samsung 500GB SSD, and a fresh copy of windows 8.1 (no manufacturer bloatware). In the future I may change the Wifi card if needed. Its a great laptop, very fast, very nice screen, good mouse pad, and touch works awesome!!!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not an answer but clarification request. Several said that this new version (B5112) has a different Intel card (not the old Intel 7260) and they are not having problems. The issues in the past were you had to be on top of the router. Are you folks with the new card a distance away from the router? This important to me because we use RV park wifi. Really want to buy this but good wifi is a must. Thanks!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have no wifi issues with this model. Comcast isp with blast. I have attached my speedtest and have had no connectivity issues. By default the pc is able to turn off the wifi adaper but if you go to device manger, power management you simply uncheck that box.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Fortunately i dont have any wifi issue with my toshi thankfully. Although i did have it on a sony vaio i bought a year ago but only after i updated to windows 8.1 and after much research i found a helpful link on youtube that fixed it. Unfortunately im not allowed to post the link here. My advise - search on youtube how to solve wifi issues (with windows 8.1 update). It solved mine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.yes, and if there are any issues you can return it within two weeks. I'll never understand why anyone wouldn't just return it if the wifi was broke.(especially if you buy it at best buy with their 14 day return policy). I actually bought mine and the fan was clicking a little, returned the next day, no questions asked and the new one has been working amazingly for 3 mo. now
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My Toshiba P55W-B5112 model doesn't have any wifi issues. If you do wind up having issues, I recommend a USB to Ethernet adapter.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We'd recommend that anyone experiencing Wi-Fi issues first try the suggestions in Toshiba's Wi-Fi troubleshooting knowledge base article at http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Networking-Wi-Fi-Knowledge-Base/Troubleshooting-Wi-Fi-Wireless-Problems-Windows-8/ta-p/365081 for starters. If that doesn't solve the problem, Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 can either troubleshoot & resolve the problem over the phone or, if necessary, help with warranty repair arrangements.
