• Assuming that you already have a cable modem or DSL router, this device can function as an access point to extend the range of your wifi. However, it must be plugged into an ethernet cable. If you want to just extend the range of your existing wifi, I recommed a NETGEAR WiFi Range Extender EX2700.

• The router works in conjunction with your modem to provide dual-band AC1200 WiFi throughout your home. It will not increase your Internet plan speed, you will need to speak with your Internet provider if you would like to adjust your plan. Regards, TP-Link Support
