• yes.. we currently do use this bulb in an exterior wall lantern..

• They aren't rated for outside so could be an issue if it gets wet and cause a short in your house. However, if your lantern is secured and blocks most of the element don't see why not. The Bulb is like any standard bulb with smart features. Hope that helps.
