It says you could but it has number pad not touch screen so adding things by tapping number times for each letter on number pad could be a problem . I don't text so not a big concern.

Yes you can text with this phone . It uses the older type of texting where the numbers are also the alphabet. Not bad. Plus this phone does Not deactivate for 1 year if not using the minutes.

You can text with difficulty. Check the reception area for this phone--it wouldn't work where we live.
