I get a voice feedback when calling some numbers null

The only time I got a voice feedback is when the phones were new. (My wife and I both got ours at the same time.) She was in the same room as me and I called to see if the phones worked. We were too close to each other. It happened one other time when I called for tech support for a program I was learning to use and was told it was on their end because of a recording or something. Otherwise the phone is fine, we both like them.
