• It never is an update to a previous year's version. Each year's purchase is a new version for the tax year just ended.

• you need to Buy the 2019, but you can import the information form your 2018 file form last year.

• You will need to purchase the 2019 Turbo Tax and after you install it and start your taxes, it will search your computer for the 2018 Turbo Tax and use all prior information that is pertinent to bring into your current taxes. This saves a lot of time inputting information.
