• As far as I can tell the one I bought was refurbished. The box it came in had a custom printed refurbished label straight from turtle beach.

• It is a refurbished item. Depending on Best Buy you might also be able to get the refurnished item as an open box for a few bucks off, but the item is refurnished. We have had good results with it, no complaints.
