From the images, I can tell this one uses it's own dongle meaning it doesn't have to rely on a separate xbox adaptor when connecting to PC but is there anything else thats better/different? null

The Stealth 700 GEN 2 MAX features improved battery life and a proprietary, 2.4Ghz connection to improve stability and connection time.

Identical headset design. The only difference is that this Gen2 Max requires the usb transmitter for all platforms. It is both a positive and negative. Positive is that you can use this headset on pretty much every platform. The negative is that I own the Gen 2 and this Gen 2 Max and the range on this for the xbox is not as good. The proprietary xbox connection seems to have a better range than this new one’s transmitter. So if you only need it for xbox, save the money and buy the Stealth 709 Gen2, NOT the Stealth 700 Gen2 MAX.

This new Gen 2 Max model is all about the dongle.  RF connectivity is only through the dongle this go round (mixed feelings on that one).  Bluetooth is still present.

I like the Steel Series Articus 9 for Xbox better.It connects to the Xbox, the same way a controller does. It will also connect to all the others via Bluetooth. PC/Phone/Tablet.
