A:Answer Short answer, no. They didn't test anything other than to see if the tv turns on. For my Samsung tv, they made sure the remote worked and left me with the tv software starting its setup mode, much like a new pc computer. You are responsible for getting your cable tv service to connect with your new tv. The installer reluctantly agreed to plug the hdmi cable from the cable box into the tv input portal, and that was the extent of help. In my opinion the $120 tv setup fee is a ripoff. You can probably pay an independent install company to do a real setup including connecting cable service etc for the same price or less. The only reason to use BestBuy's tv setup service is to avoid the situation where they deliver a defective tv and you don't discover the problem until after you have someone else install the tv and then have an issue with getting BestBuy to exchange the defective tv for a properly working tv.
