The type C port is for a cord that is "C" to "C". So you will need a C fo C cord. Using this port on the charger is supposed to charge your device at a much faster rate.

Some phones/devices only accept USB-C cables so the old/standard USB today will likely become less commonplace as USB-C is more widely accepted since USB-C is able to transfer more data than the current USB cables used today.
