Yes, that is exactly what it does. You charge this device and then you can take it around with you to charge other devices and just recharge it when needed.

You can charge 3 devices at the same time (1 wirelessly and 2 plug in via USBA). With this charger at 100% battery me and my wife can charge both of our phones from dead to full and still have 60% battery life on the charger. Also a quick charge AC adapter works great with it, I hope this helps.

If you have an outlet available you do not need this battery between the outlet and your phone. See 3 below! It can charge your phone many times before this battery needs to be recharged...it has an LED that lets you know the % of full charge left in this standalone battery. 2. When my iPhone kicked into 'low battery' mode when I'm out on my deck (or anywhere without an outlet available) I just plugged the phone into this battery and it charges my phone, regardless if I continue using my iPhone or not. 3. ATTN: This battery has a label (and instructions reinforce) that states: DO NOT Charge this battery AND Charge your Smartphone from it AT THE SAME TIME! 4. It took me about 20 hrs for the 1st/initial charging of this battery to reach 100%...so you only need to plan when you will recharge it. They say the 1st time takes the longest but I have not yet tried it. If you have an outlet, having 2 chords (1 to recharge battery and 1 to recharge iPhone) allows charging both at same time, I keep the 2nd chord with this battery so I never need to worry (2nd chord stays in outlet at home) and I don't need to take my 'home chord' out and carry with this battery. Both chords are identical.
