It uses wireless bands. Note that my experience is that I speeds on the mesh points is around 25mbps. I have a 100mbps connection and still can't get a lot from mesh points. I read on their forums that others with even higher speeds have similar speeds so it is not proportional. It is garbage. Stay away.
