I bought this TV for my Mom last week, and I'm still trying to determine its usefulness as a computer monitor. I have a reasonably-modern laptop (a ThinkPad T430s running Windows 8.1) that I briefly connected to this TV's HDMI 3 port (on the side of the TV) using a Mini DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable. By default, the picture on the TV was not acceptable for reading text - there was some slight image scaling and/or picture enhancement going on that got in the way of displaying characters the way Windows intended (fonts were slightly distorted in shape and color). From memory, I can say that I was able to pretty quickly label the side HDMI port as "Computer", I tried some advanced setting for "Scaling" function to "Direct", and I turned off some sort of picture enhancement function, but I didn't get it quite right before running out of time. I didn't have time to tweak every possible option, or find out if a specific HDMI port is preferred for computer or game usage (as is the case on some TVs). I'll play with it some more next week and come back here with my conclusion. While at my desk, I normally use a 23' external 1080p monitor with my laptop as an extended display using the same type of cable, so I know what it *should* look like. I will say that as a TV and Roku setup - this is a great value!
