A:Answer Yes. Nearly every consumer electronic device is made in China. Vankyo was or still is based in Shenzen, Guandong province of China. (I've been to Shenzen many times)
That said. All of the major brand projectors (the ones commonly recognized in the US) are made there as well.
Nobody has found a way (yet) to mass produce consumer electronics in the US at a price that a reasonably value conscious shopper would pay. The differential in mfg. cost between China and US is significant.
However, conditions are changing, and some mfg. is shifting to Viet Nam, Taiwan, India and even the US.
A key question to ask is "where is the product designed"? Many products that are built in China are designed elsewhere. I dont know about Vankyo, but suspect that it is 100% Chinese designed and built. I don't see any other way that this product could be offered at the current price.
