Will this phone work with a Verizon contract? null

Im not sure about a yearly contract but you can get a pretty good deal using Auto pay monthly. You choose which monthly plan add your card to your new account and it will simply renew the plan once a month. You can change your plan to a higher number of gigabites or lower depending on your needs.
