• A:Answer It has what is referred to by alarm manufacturers as a starter interrupt circuit that bypasses the car's ignition switch so it can not be started unless the alarm is deactivated and it also has a "valet" switch or "valet" button which allows you to temporarily deactivate the system while, as the name suggests you leave your car with a valet or while your car is being detailed, serviced or repaired at a shop. The starter interrupt is probably what you might think of as a kill switch in that if anyone tries to start the car either with a key or by "hot wiring" it, the alarm interrupts the electrical signal from the ignition by routing it through a relay hidden within the factory wire harness of your vehicle. The only way to start the car is for you to disarm the system.

Q: QuestionI have a 2011 F-150 XL. It has manual door locks and manual windows. Will this work on that. And does it cover both doors?

• A:Answer You can absolutely use this system as an alarm but if you want the manual locks to work with the alarm and to lock and unlock remotely it will require the addition of power lock actuators (small motorized switches which will have to be installed inside your doors) "see photo". The actuators are available through the installation department at your Best Buy store and will cost a bit extra for them to be installed as an addition to your alarm. Personally I really enjoy the convenience of being able to lock and unlock my car without needing to use a key, especially when carrying things.
