Yes! My VIVITEK projector is connected to a VCR with an HDMI cable and the movies are superb! I project onto a 5' by 7' wall painted screen (using special grey screen paint) from a distance of about 15 feet.

Yes you can watch movies with this projector, but it must be connected to a device that can play DVDs or Blue Ray discs. You can also connect it to a laptop or PC and veiw video from the Internet.
