“The tv description says 2160p but the number that is given under System Information says the resolution is 720p. Which one is right?”

It is 3840 X 2160 which is 2160P

This TV is capable of displaying up to a 2160p resolution, but only if the device connected to the TV is outputting this. If your connected device (cable box, gaming console, etc.) is only display 720p, that's what the TV will show you. It will upscale all non-2160p content to near 4K fidelity for you with our Spatial Scaling Engine.
