Actually Rtings says "Upscaling for DVD(480p) low-quality or standard definition content is slightly worse than average. Similar to other Vizio TVs, DVDs appear a bit soft. 720p content such as Cable is slightly more soft than usual, resulting in some minor loss of detail. 1080p content such as regular HD Blu-rays look good once upscaled. The image remains sharp. 4k the image is very clear and detailed." So, if you watch 1080P content or 4k content you should be fine. If you watch DVDs and standard definition shows then expect a softer image.
