If your VIZIO TV has HDMI Control (most new ones do) then the TV will control the sound bar. Once the sound bar is recognized it will turn on the sound bar, turn off TV speakers, and valumencontrols are sent to the sound bar all automatically. Just make sure sound bar is plugged into HDMI 1 (or the one labeled as HDMI-ARC). If your TV does not have this feature or you do not wish to connect via HDMI then other option is most VIZIO remotes also work the VIZIO sound bars, you may have to enable this function on the sound bar but it does work.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If you have an "ARC" HDMI cable most newer TVs will control the sound bar. They will mute the TV's volume, and the volume control on the remote will operate the soundbar.
