Make sure that you are using the AC adapter that came with the unit and it should be away from other electronic devices that may cause interference. You can also try moving the handset closer to the base. The operating range may vary with environmental conditions and time of use. There may be places within your environment that a cordless phone will not work well. If this is not the case, like many electronic devices, a system reboot may resolve the issue. You can try rebooting your phone system by disconnecting the power from the telephone base then unplug the battery on the cordless handset for a minute. Reconnect and test. If the issue still persists, you may try another phone on the same jack, if another phone does the same thing, we can conclude that its a line problem and you need to contact you telephone service provider. If another phone works fine on the same jack, please contact VTech Customer Support for further assistance at 1-800-595-9511. We are open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Mondays through Fridays. When calling, please have your model number handy: CS5119. Thank you! - VTech Support
