“It says calls cannot be initiated from the headset but must be initiated from the handset. And that you can't transfer from the handset to the headset. Does this mean that I cannot use the headset on outgoing calls? That can't be right.”

You can dial a call with the handset and then click the button on the Bluetooth headset to use the headset, then turn off the handset.

Once the line is ringing, you ca turn on the cordless headset to continue the call.
