Yes the drive will work I a dell system. You might need extra cables if you are planning on using software to move the old drive to the new drive. Otherwise you will need to reinstall everything manually or use a dell recovery disk.

Yes you can, if there is an available SATA port on the motherboard and a SATA power cable on the power supply.

Running XP is a BIG mistake, but that being said, If it takes a SATA drive then yes you should be able to. Worst case, you might have to partition the drive

Yes you can. If you have the Dell XP disc then use that. If you use an OEM copy it's best to activate by phone rather than using internet activation. Go ahead and find updated drivers because I'm sure you'll need them on the new clean install.
