• Absolutely but what you need to know is that you have to load the Operating System onto it e.g. Windows Vista Home. You will need the install disc to be able to do that. Hopefully they sent one to you. You can also use imaging software to image your old drive if it is not completely dead. Good luck in your replacement!

• Yes. It uses industry standards. Transfer rates are fast if you use a USB 3.0. Still fast if only USB 2.0 just not as fast.
